Assault on Diplomatic Representations
On 5th April 1992, NCRI sympathisers carried out nearly simultaneous attacks on Iranian Embassies in 13 different countries in Bonne, London, New York, Paris, Munich, Hamburg, Ottawa, Stockholm, Bern, Oslo, Canberra, The Hague, and Copenhagen, as a result of which some of these places were put on fire and heavily damaged.
“Mojahed” No. 290 on page 19, this incident is referred to and it is explicitly mentioned that these attacks were carried out by NCRI/MKO sympathisers. Furthermore, some credible news agencies reported the incident in the following words:
Reuters News Agency on 5th April 1992 at 16:18 quoted the spokesman of the police in Bonne and reported that NXRI/MKO sympathisers attacked the Iranian embassy and destroyed every-thing there.
Voice of America reported the same day at 21:30 that protestors entered the Iranian embassy in The Hague and caused extensive property damage. About 35 different media outlets filmed and reported the occupation of the Iranian diplomatic premises by NCRI/MKO sympathisers. To cut it short, on Sunday 5th April 1992, most of world’s newswires were continuously reporting the organised and simultaneous attacks on Iranian diplomatic missions and their occupation, arson and destruction in 13 major cities around the world.
In this connection Mojahed, No. 290, page 19 writes:
“In Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden, all Iranian diplomatic cars were set ablaze. In Hamburg the flag of Iran was taken away from the top of the Iranian Consulate building and was replaced by the all-honouring emblem of MKO. In this incident about 180 sympathisers of NCRI/MKO were arrested by police in these countries.” A documentary film on the attack by sympathisers of NCRI on the Iranian embassy in Australia is attached. [195]
One other document on this terrorist incident (i.e. attacks on Iranian embassies and diplomatic Missions in 1992) is the report of the US Department of State in 1994. In this Report it is stated:
MKO “occasionally carry out violent attacks against Iranian government targets located in the West. The most spectacular incidents took place April 5, 1992, when in a wave of coordinated attacks members of the Mojahedin stormed Iranian diplomatic missions in New York City, Canada, Germany, France, Britain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Australia.” [196]
In the same Report it is stated that the MKO acknowledged on "Voice of Mojahed" that they had "ransacked or set on fire" the diplomatic missions.” [197]
On 7 March 1997 TT News Agency of Sweden quoting from the report of the security servic-es of that country:
“This group has been behind the violent demonstrations and occupation of the Iranian Embassy in Lidengou. This attack brought about extensive damage to the building.”
