NCRI and Suicide Operations
In light of all that has been mentioned, we should not consider NCRI as an ordinary cult or organisation, rather the reality goes beyond this. It is a cult and at the same time a terrorist group. It not only incites young people to terrorism, but also encourages them to carry out suicide oper-ations. From the date the MKO declared it would choose the armed struggle and terrorism as its policy to reach its ends , the act of suicide became common among members of the organisation and the leaders of the organisation, in their statements in various publications condoned suicide operations .
The followings are some examples of the persuasion to suicide operations quoted from official MKO announcements:
On 26 June 1981, at the very beginning of the glorious armed revolutionary struggle of MKO against the regime, the rage in the heart of Evin prison came out of the gun of victorious Mojahed Mohammad Kazem Afjei and ripped apart the chest of Kachouei, the Head of Evin prison. Following this act of bravery, the name of the first suicide martyr was inscribed on the red tablet of everlasting MKO martyrs. [178]
A student girl lost her life for taking the life of an assistant to Khomeini. Yesterday it was revealed that a student girl who was a member of a Muslim militia group assassinated Ayatollah Dastghib with a hand made grenade. This girl, aged 15 or 16, told the bodyguards of Ayatollah Dastghib that she has a letter for the Ayatollah. When she neared him, she pulled the safety lock of the grenade attached to her belt. The identity of the girl is not yet known, but it is said that the girl belonged to MKO. [179]
In the MKO-affiliated Etehadiyeh publication, No. 200, page 10, one reads: “On Friday, 11 September 1981, the brave Mojahed Majid Nikoo, for carrying out his revolutionary and self sac-rificing duty, attached grenades to himself and entered the place for Friday prayers in Tabriz. After the prayer he stood up and approached Madani, a high ranking religious authority in Iran, and detonated the grenades under his clothes. As a result of this operation Madani was killed and Majid Nikoo attained the honour of martyrdom."
In the same publication (Etehadiyeh, No. 59 page 40) there is news on the suicide operations of the forces belonging to MKO. In this news piece, one reads: “On Friday, 15 October, 1982, at noon time, Ayatollah Ashrafi Isfahani, another top religious official of Iran was killed in Kermanshah in the course of a suicide operation carried out by the brave Mojahed Mohammad Hossein Khoda-Karami.”
The other suicide operation took place on 2 July 1982. In the course of this operation carried out by Mohammad Reza Ibrahim Zadeh, one other top religious official of Iran (Ayatollah Sadoughi) was killed an Iranian city.”
This Mujahid (Mohammad Reza Ibrahim Zadeh) stood up and with total satisfaction and self-confidence approached Sadoughi and with all his force grabbed his neck and after notifying him about the verdict of the people’s court and while remembering all the martyrs, detonated the grenades attached to him. [180]
These kinds of terrorist operations, dubbed as Fadaei (sacrificing) or suicide operations by the leaders of MKO, were institutionalized among the members of MKO and were considered to be an ideological value.
In this respect, we read in Mojahed publication, No. 784 page. 13 dated 12 January 2006 the following:
“Ahmad Rezaei when surrounded by tens of mercenaries of SAVAK [181], armed to the teeth, showed no hesitation and blew himself up immediately with grenades, while the sound of the explosion reached out to the palace of the cruel dictator. He did not give anything to the enemy, no arms, no information and he even denied them his body. This was a lesson and a tradition of a self sacrificing devotee given by this valuable martyr and members of MKO consider it a sacred legacy. He was the symbol of ideology and guardian of secret information, most of the Mojahedin’s victories are due to his sacrifices and will be everlasting.”
This cultish behaviour was so institutionalised in the Rajavi cult that in 1987 when 15 mem-bers of this terrorist-cult group were deported by the French police and had their refugee status annulled; members of this cult went on hunger strike for 40 days upon the orders of the leaders of the group. They even threatened to commit self immolation, if their request from French govern-ment officials to reverse their decision to expel these members of MKO would not be yielded. This coordinated act which was done under the leadership of the group shows the cultish tendencies in the group and shows that they are not law abiding people and to attain their goal they will accept any risk. In the same vein one reads in the publications affiliated to the group the following:
“Maryam Rajavi in her message in the second week of the hunger strike which was published in the publication of the Association of the Muslim Students Societies Abroad declares:
“…Without any doubt this illuminating victory of Mojahedin at the political and inter-national scenes as a result of the full hearted and full fledged resistance, rests on the pure mono-theistic ideology which once again is as brilliant as in the past… the mundane symbol and manifestation of this ideology is the all risk taking leader, who with his maximal sacrifices and his divisiveness and full fledged bravery interfered in this event and was the source of such a resist-ance that surprised the world and brought about the decisive victory of Mojahedin and the Iranian Resistance.”
“One of the great achievements of your movement was that everyone understood that if last year there was a silence prevailing over the departure of some members, it was only and only because of the orders of Masoud himself, otherwise we all know very well that all of you were ready to stage devastating protests in all the cities. I should add here, however, that this year we have received a great number of requests for self immolation and we were able only to control the situation upon the orders of Masoud.” [182]
In this message, Maryam Rajavi, the appointed President of NCRI, corroborates this cultish and violent act and declares explicitly that this act was undertaken upon her orders and under her supervision for the sake of the leadership. In this connection members of this cultish group issued a declaration expressing their readiness for self immolation and to sacrifice themselves for their leaders.
Alireza Jafar Zadeh, member of the foreign relations commission of NCRI in a statement on 19 November 1989 declared:
“moments ago, I heard the news about the readiness of 20 sympathisers of the organisation in the United States for self immolation in protest at the decision of the French government; I was real-ly impressed by this news. From that moment I could not continue my work. To tell you the truth as of some days ago when I read the message of sister Maryam (Rajavi) indicating that only and only because of the prohibition of our brother (Masoud Rajavi) that various attempts to self immolation were prevented, my mind is very much busy and obsessed. When I heard that 20 people in the United States alone have has such a request and most certainly we have more and more such requests all over the world, I feel the greatness of such an act and I have the feeling that I should only take the pen in my hand to get a rest. Indeed these mean people have not yet realised the cleverness and decisiveness of this sole people’s Mojahed individual. They are shorter sighted than to realize that the command of Rajavi would raise a degree of uproar that would bring to an end their dark rule with whatever dimension in length and in width, if this gener-ation wished so. It is indeed that if Rajavi issues such an order they would realise that the People’s Mujhed has another side than patience, tolerance and self restraint. I as a small drop of this vast sea of people and part of the People’s Mojahedin, hereby declare that I would be ready to put myself ablaze in any moment and in any place that is necessary, so that I pay my debt to the leader, people and the revolution. [183]”
As noted from the above, Ali Reza Jafar-Zadeh, who is at present residing in the United States and is one of the most active members of the cultish terrorist MKO/NCRI, deceived the American officials and with a democratic gesture was able to open a place for himself in the FAX News Agency, has threatened the world and states that if the leader of the cult orders so, members of the group would create havoc around the world. This is the kind of behaviour that only a cultish ter-rorist group is able to do so. There are other instances of request by the members of this group for self immolation which are reflected in the publication of the Association of the Muslim Students Societies, all indicating the cultish specificity of the group. Although that act (self immolation) was not committed at that time, we see that some years later i.e. in 2003 when Maryam Rajavi was arrested by the Anti-terrorist French Police, upon the orders of the leadership of the group and under their supervision some members committed self immolation in Europe which brought about a devastating human disaster and showed to all the real cultish terrorist nature of the group. [184]
This group in different junctures of it life, by taking recourse to cultish regulations have put at risk the lives of its members and sympathisers for the sake of the leader of the group.
Between the years 2000 and 2003, the leader of NCRI/MKO dispatched its agents from Iraq inside Iran to carry out terrorist operations. Among the recommendations given by the leadership to these forces was that if they failed to successfully carry out their operations, they should com-mit suicide and should sacrifice themselves for the leader of the group and so as not to be arrested by Iranian forces, they would have to swallow cyanide tablets.
Here are some examples of the announcements by MKO, published in related publications, which corroborate suicide attempts by members of the group:
“The brave Mojahed Hossein Agha Hosseini finally in the morning of Friday 22 October 1999, while carrying out his mission, faced the enemy. He committed suicide with the highest degree of courage.” [185] MKO in a declaration issued on 16 November 2000 stated: “On the morning of 16 November 2000, at 10 a.m., the brave operational units of Mojahedin in the province of Fars in the city of Safa Shahr in the Khoram Bid region clashed with police forces. Around noon time, the brave Mojahed Bahram Baradaran, 31 years old, and Ali Malek Mohammadi, 25 years old, in a sacred suicide operation and with a lot of courage ran towards the police forces stationed at the pharynx and detonated their grenades which resulted in the deaths and injury of 15 policemen including the commander of the police station.
In the same year (2000), the commander of MKO/NCRI/NLA in an official statement accept-ed the responsibility of 5 suicidal operations carried out by his forces inside Iran. In this statement the following names were provided as those who committed suicide operations:
| No. | First Name and Family Name | Date of the Operation | Region |
| 1 | Abdolkarim Mahmoudi | 30 April 2000 | Ilam |
| 2 | Hamid Reza Lashkari | 30 April 2000 | Ilam |
| 3 | Habib-o-llah Hashemi Khah | 9 June 2000 | Ilam |
| 4 | Akbar Sanjabi | 7 November 2000 | Ghasr-e Shirin |
The terrorist operations of MKO with the all out support and encouragement of NCRI con-tinued in the year 2001.
In a public announcement of the group it is stated that Hamid Khosrawi on Saturday 24 March 2001 was martyred in a suicide operation.
In the same vein, MKO/NCRI officials in separate announcements confirmed that Ladan Badiyani and Fahimeh Sadeghi were killed as a result of the explosion of grenades in the course of “sacred suicide operations”.
It is for the cultish peculiarity of this group and the cult-like regulations and terrorist methods, that the members of the group are trained to sacrifice themselves for the leadership of NCRI; the group declares it as an honour that the terrorists affiliated to it are ready to carry out suicidal operations.
Moslem Filabi, Member of NCRI acknowledges that:
“At a time that NLA combatants are ready to commit suicidal operations, it is expected that we also carry out our duties here.” [186]
Saleh Rajavi, brother of Masoud Rajavi and one of the present leaders of NCRI, also confesses that they are ready for suicidal operations and they do not fear that they be labelled as terrorists by the international community:
“Let the mean people say whatever they wish to. Let them call us terrorists...Would it be possible to call thousands and thousands of Mojaheds and self-sacrificing combatants, who are carrying out suicidal operations for the freedom of their people and the establishment of democracy and national rule in their homeland as terrorists?!” [187]
It is at a time that the officials of the group claim that in since 2001 they have desisted terror-ist operations, while they continue to incite and encourage their forces to carry out terrorist oper-ations, even in the form of suicide operation and they call it a sacred act. Mojahed publication, No. 784 dated 3 January 2006 while recalling the past memories states: “the religious judge told ...
MKO has declared an armed struggle what is your opinion? He replied: I would totally confirm that…If I had gun, I would barrage you the rest and would be an honour for me to be killed in the path of Masoud Rajavi. Nazli added: I should not let them arrest me alive. I am a member of MKO and would never subdue myself to what the enemy wishes so ...”
In another instance, in the electronic publication of Mojahed No. 50 dated 21 December 2005, it is stated: “One of the rules that the Mojahedin living in Jungle had among them was the rule of last bullet. That is to say that they should not shot the last bullet towards the enemy, rather they should keep it for themselves. Bahman would also always have this rule in mind and would keep a bullet in a pouch on his belt.” The Mojahed, the official publication of MKO has gone even further and declared the readiness of MKO forces to carry out suicide operations. “I, Ebrahim Faraji-Pour, volunteer to carry out a suicidal operation to punish Mullah Hassani.” This sentence has appeared in the electronic publication of Mojahed No. 50; page 6 dated 21 December 2005 and indicates explicitly the open terrorist and cultish policy and strategy of the group. It is at a time that the group has declared in 2001 that it had ceased its terrorist policy and strategy?
Another instance of the cultish operation by the group which was to force its members to carry out suicide operations in Europe was at the time of the arrest of Maryam Rajavi, the appointed President of NCRI by French anti terrorist police on 17 June 2003.
Mohammad Ali Sobhani, former member of NCRI in his book entitled “Chantage” states:
“Some days ago “Ojalan”, leader of PKK in Turkey was arrested. Following his arrest some of his sympathizers as a sign of protest committed this act (self-immolation). Maryam Rajavi her-self in a meeting in Iraq in a gathering of members told “You should be very nerveless if your leader is arrested and you do not set yourself ablaze.” We see that this order of the organisation was obeyed in France and other European countries and some members and sympathizers of the organisation burned themselves to death.” [188]
This act (self-immolation) is carried out with encouragement and guidance of NCRI officials. This has been referred to in the website of Mansour Ghadr Khah, a member of NCRI, called “Iran liberty”189. In this regard Ghadr Khah states: “Hundreds of people have inscribed themselves in the list for self-immolation. So, if the French government does not put an end to its common plot with the Iranian regime, they are determined to set themselves ablaze.” [190]
The self-immolation act by the members of MKO/NCRI in France, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany brought about extensive disaster. In this act two members of the Group “Neda Hassani” [191] in London and “Saddigheh Mojaveri” [192] in Germany lost their lives. Following that 8 other members set themselves ablaze and were seriously injured as a result. Among them were “Marziyeh Baba Khani” in Germany, “Mohammad Reza Sani” in France and “Mohsen Sharifi” in Switzerland who all were members of NCRI. The pictures related to self immolation of the members of MKO/NCRI are also on the following web-sites:
www.hambastegibaraie-Iran.org
www.peykeiran.com
www.aftabgardan.org
www.mkowatch.com
The self-immolation act, like other cultish and terrorist acts by the members were carried out under the supervision and in coordination with the leaders of this cultish terrorist group. A reporter of “Le Parisian” reported on 19 June 2003 that “Before and after self-immolation of these members, a person who introduced himself as the spokesman for the Public Relations Committee of NCRI contacted some reporters on his cellular phone and gave the names of the persons committing this act.” He further adds: “After the fire was extinguished, one member of Mojahedin told the reporter to take the best photo of the event.” [193]
Since this act of self immolation was not accepted by public opinion in Europe and soon it created public hatred, the leaders of the cult declared that these acts had been done individually and spontaneously by the members and sympathisers of the group and the leadership had had no role in it. But finally, after 3 years of silence, Maryam Rajavi in an interview with Mojahed publi-cation, No. 812 dated 10 July 2006 while expressing her appreciation about these acts, declared those who committed them as devotees to the leader of the cult (Masoud Rajavi). She also supported these act in principle and incited other members of the cult to follow suit and at the proper juncture, sacrifice themselves for the sake of the leadership of the cult. “Indeed you are the manifestation of a loyal and devoted generation to Masoud. Indeed you are symbols of loyalty and devotion to the sublime values of resistance. I want here to appreciate the amazing patience in human flames.” [194] In the same vein, the electronic Mojahed publication, No. 15, page 4, dated 15 November 2005 acknowledged those acts and stated: “The French committed the most heinous act in their history, but still the sympathisers came on and in the cold and rainy weather on the streets they slept and woke up and set themselves ablaze and forced the world to retreat.”
This cultish act by the group of forcing its members to kill themselves for the defence of the leader is a prime example of the cultish and terrorist acts of this group. It puts at risk its members all over Europe and is a real threat to the security of European citizens and officials, because it will resort to whatever is necessary to pursue its interests. Unless controlled, there may be irreparable disasters.
